Simplicity In Motion
The 401 & 701 Vitpilen Motorcycles from Husqvarna represent a fundamental change in the way the 115-year-old Pioneering manufacturer approaches street bikes. With the addition of these two models to their line up, the design sought out to challenge the conventional, old fashion ideas and successful in doing so.
To first understand how the Vitpilen 401 & 701 are different from anything Husqvarna has ever presented, we have to look at the intent the company has towards street bike culture. Although Husqvarna is very much looking towards the future, they relish days where owning a motorcycle was more of a commonality among the general public. A time where riding a motorcycle was a simple and unique experience.
Giving riders a fresh new way of experiencing their urban environment, the Vitpilen 401 & 701 are far removed from all that is unnecessary; their designs have been streamlined. This approach makes modern day motorcycling more exciting and inviting than ever before. Husqvarna has made the Vitpilen series for forward-thinking, free riders who have an appreciation for exceptional design.
Both Vitpilen bikes are paradoxes on wheels. On one hand, they are simple, user-friendly vehicles. On the other, sophisticated technology and premium components turn them into complex pieces of machinery.
Design wise the bikes do differ. Riders can look forward to a sporty feel and instant feedback from the Vitpilen 401 clip-on handlebars which connect directly to a forged aluminum triple clamp. The bike is also fitted with a state-of-the-art BOSCH anti-lock braking system (ABS), tough 17” bronze anodized spoked wheels, and street-proven M5 tires. It is powered by a 375cc single-cylinder engine, features a 6-speed transmission, and a total weight of 148 kg.
The Vitpilen 701 offers experienced riders something more interesting performance wise as it is powered by a larger 692.7 cc single-cylinder engine. It also showcases the brand’s progressive design direction with the yellow “Split” that runs diagonally from the bottom of the fuel tank to the exhaust hanger.
Husqvarna’s vision of the future lies in its nostalgia towards the way riding motorcycles used to be. It is this same paradox that allows the Vitpilen 401 & 701 to be simple yet modern; A combination sure to create a thrilling ride for anyone looking for a new way to feel the city.
