The Launch, which took place at the Skylight Modern event space in the Chelsea district in New York city, showcased the Vitpilen 401, Vitpilen 701, and the Svartpilen 701. These three bikes mark Husqvarna’s return to the street motorcycle industry.  This venue, which is habitually used for both fashion and art shows, was the perfect place to display the new bikes as they invite both the unfamiliar and veteran motorcyclists to look at motorcycles from a different perspective. Embracing the mantra of being simple yet progressive, the design being all three bikes are free of unnecessary clutter, at the same time offer some of the most advanced technology.

The swiss designed Vitpilen and Svartpilen motorcycles first made their appearance in 2014 and 2015 as concepts. Husqvarna, through these models, wants to change the way motorcycle riding is perceived, and attract people who may not have ever owned a motorcycle. They also want to create a lifestyle behind the bikes, this is why they have also introduced a clothing line to accompany the journey. The clothing line features high quality streetwear such as jeans, shirts, and leather jackets for both men and women.

The contemporary design behind the bikes puts the driving experience at the forefront, this allows the driver to feel the road like never before. I was able to mount the Vitpilen 701 and  enjoy the VR simulation which allowed me to experience Trollstigen, one of the most exciting roads in Norway. Thought I have yet to experience the real thing, sitting on the bike and gripping the throttle has left me wanting more.
