There’s no sugar coating Canadian winters. They seem to last forever and hit without warning. As much as I consider myself a veteran of the toughest season this beautiful country has to offer, there really is no way of preparing for what is in store, especially out on the road.

That being said, we Canadians don’t shy away from getting to where we want to go. Over the course of a snowy weekend, I had the opportunity of driving down the 401 from Montreal to Toronto in the new 2018 Lincoln MKZ, a car that made my six hour journey through a snowstorm seem like a summertime cruise.

Contrary to popular belief, I’m glad to have made drive to Toronto in the Lincoln MKZ during one of the coldest months of the year. It was under these harsh conditions that both I and my passengers were able to fully appreciate the comfort the Lincoln has to offer. The heated steering wheel is a luxury I didn't know I needed. I admit to being skeptical about the necessity behind such a feature, but when the thermometer gets acquainted to sub-zero temperatures, I would be hard pressed to argue against it. Of course the seats were heated as well. Thankfully Lincoln has kept massaging seats, a feature that is exclusive to both the driver and front passenger, and has been a part of the MKZ series for several years now.

The Lincoln’s attention to detail added warmth the car as well. The welcome the Lincoln gives  by activating the lights when the keyholder approaches is a true testament to its luxurious feel. There really is nothing like walking up to your car and it acknowledging your presence. The Lincoln signs visible at the base of each car door is another excellent touch.

Thanks to the panoramic glass roof, everyone in the car was able see Toronto from a completely different angle, at the same time.

Behind the wheel, I felt in complete control of the vehicle thanks to the user friendly center console and steering wheel functions. Between the two, I was able to handle everything from the car's’ temperature, to the media source without ever taking my focus off the road. Pairing both Android and Apple smartphones up with the car was a breeze.

Perhaps the only thing to sound better than the roar of the V6 400hp engine in sport mode, is the sounds quality delivered by the Revel surround sound audio system. To say that the Lincoln sound system is loud is an understatement. It was the rich low ends and crisp high-ends that really impressed me as a music lover.

The Lincoln MKZ might be considered a car built for an older diver, but you would be wrong to typecast the 2018 MKZ as your “Dad’s car”. After having the privilege of driving the 2018 Lincoln MKZ down the 401 and becoming familiar with the vehicle’s stand out features, I can say without hesitation, that this luxury vehicle won me over with its sleek design, attention to detail, superior sound system, and great stability.
