1954 BMW RS54 Rennsport Hitting the Auction

Shortly after the FIM re-allowed German machines into their events, the engineers at BMW designed several excellent racing motorcycles including the 1954 BMW Rennsport RS54.

The 286 lb  BMW Rennesport RS54 produced 45hp from its boxer-twin, which at the time, made it ahead of its time. What gave it an even bigger advantage was the front suspension made under license from the Englishman Ernie Earles.

This particular model is due to hit the auction at the upcoming Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction. It is estimated to be worth between $145,000 and 165,000 USD.
