The New 840 HP Speed Demon From Dodge
The new muscle car from the American company has undergone several performance upgrades that have not only made it faster than it’s predecessor, Dodge claims that it has the fastest quarter-mile time available. Long story short, The Challenger SRT Demon is the Hellcat on steroids.
By implementing a 2.7-liter supercharger, new pistons, rods, valve train, and dual-stage fuel pumps, the Challenger’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine now has 840 horsepower compared the Hellcat’s 707 horsepower. The Demon now has a rev limit of 6,500 rpm, connections between rods have been strengthened, and there are now three sources of air-intake: the hood, the driver-side headlamp and an inlet near the wheel liner.
All these performance upgrades amount to the Demon completing a quarter-mile distance in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph ( 225 km/h).
The Challenger accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in an impressive 2.3 seconds, and holds the Guinness World Record for the first front wheel lift in a production car.
The Challenger SRT Demon is the first street-legal production car that can run 100+ unleaded high-octane fuel, this, combined with the powertrain control module, allows the car to reach its maximum speed of 840 hp.
Perhaps the most impressive thing about the speed demon is its price tag; the Demon will retail for less than 100,000, proving that you don’t have to tear up your wallet to tear up the streets.
